My name is Emma, and I'm the writer of Ghetsuhm Riker D'Riel. That'll either go on my tombstone or the charge sheet. I'm in my thirties, the mother of two school-aged children, and I live in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I suffer from a chronic illness which severely limits the scope of my physical activity. Internet writing and role-playing has been essential to keeping me sane, ensuring a reasonable level of 'constructive' activity and social interaction. I've written since I was a small child, except while I was at university, when any creative impulses were channeled into essays on Shakespeare and Jane Austen, or hammered into unconsciousness by weekends spent drinking gin in a toga. I also read as much as I can, mostly fantasy, mystery, and science-fiction. I love Elizabeth Peters, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Marion Bradley, and PD James, but my favourite book will probably always be Pride and Prejudice.
Ghetsuhm is my pride and joy. I've been writing her since around about 1999-2000, and she has developed beyond belief. I've so enjoyed the trusting relationships built with the other writers who have helped me make her flower the way she has.
I work part-time as a free-lance web content writer. Yes, I trade words for money.
